Museum Visit

26th May 2017

We went to Bodmin Regimental Museum on May 19th linking to our topic on 'The Commonwealth'.  We learnt about the Siege of Lucknow, India, in 1847.  We developed our learning of how The British Empire developed - something which was not liked and wanted by all around the world.

At the museum we were able to touch and try on a range of uniform - seeing the changes over the years as well as weaponry.  We read diary extracts from Lady Julia Inglis, a wife of a Colonel in the Siege of Lucknow.  We finished the trip by making medals.  Since coming back to school we have written stories imagining we were at the Siege.  These have been sent to Bodmin Museum to go on display.
