Welcome to Oak Tree Class! We all work very hard to achieve our best, we enjoy a challenge. We have a supportive and hardworking classroom ethos underpinned by our classroom character ‘Frankie’. When challenges occur we remind ourselves to be a Frankie and not a Freddie (have a look at the pictures below to understand more!)
Oak Tree Class is a mixed class of Year 5 and Year 6 children. Mrs Pipe is their class teacher with Miss Rickard asthe teaching assistant.
The class is situated in a newly built classroom from Easter 2016 – even with air conditioning! It is a super learning space – light, airy, fresh with the latest interactive whiteboard as well as each child having their own ipad.
We enjoy a wide range of learning opportunities and active lessons as well as enjoying off-site trips and activities. We also take time in preparing Year 6 children for the big move and transition into secondary school. There are opportunities throughout the year to attend Bodmin College.
Each half term they enjoy sharing their learning with parents. Parents are invited in to see their work, hear a song, maybe a dance, taste a treat and even more...! In the Summer term Oak Class enjoy a residential trip as well as performing a show. Their most recent summer show being Aladdin, which proved a big hit with all ages!
In October we enjoyed a visit from Mr Barber with his amazing planetarium. We had two workshops - one about Ancient Greece and the other Space (both linking to our topics). We listened to stories and learnt facts which were brought to life with projections above our heads. A very memorable experience for all!
We enjoy sharing our learning from our topics with our parents. In our topic on Ancient Greece we sang a song to our parents called "Living It Up in Greece!" We put on display our warning stories, our clay pots and our ipad books about Ancient Greek Gods.
Science: we enjoy taking part in investigations. Here we explore changing materials. We asked questions, made predictions, investigated together then captured our findings by writing and the use of iPads.
junior Life Skills Event
We visited Bod,in Fire Station to take part in an event to remind us about keeping ourselves and others safe as well as looking after the environment. A fact filled morning full of learning, facts as well as some fun along the way amongst very serious messages.
